Analyze Course Requests for Equity

After student course requests have been collected, take some time to review requests to ensure that special populations are gaining access to necessary courses. Schedulers can use this information to understand which courses may benefit from further marketing or recruitment to increase the diversity of students requesting enrollment.

Examine Requests Using the Schedule Monitoring Report

  1. Click the waffle icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen and click on Abl Analytics

  2. Click on Schedule Monitoring and select the scheduling year and grade level

  3. Scroll to Subject Area Requests to examine the student demographics of course requests across subject areas

  4. Scroll to Advanced Course Requests to examine the student demographics of course requests in advanced courses

Review Overall Course Request Trends

Looking at the Course Board schedulers can quickly see gender, EL, and IEP distributions across courses. Using filters to narrow down to departments, or specific sets of courses, this can help identify trends in course requests.

  1. Navigate to the Course Board and click on List View

  2. Locate the student demographic information located on the right side of the board

  3. Scroll to view courses that may be unbalanced across several key demographics, such as gender, English Language Learners, and students with IEPs.

  4. Filter and sort data to view the students and courses you want to see

  2. Click on the name of the course you want to examine
