Block out teacher time for prep, common planning, or special assignment

OVERVIEW
Schedulers may want to designate specific periods where a teacher should not be assigned a class, so that he or she can collaborate with peers, cover a hall or lunch duty, work on special assignment, or coach a sport. This can be done before or after placing other classes, and in the case of shared work, more than one staff member can be assigned to a common non-instructional assignment.

ASSIGN A PERIOD AS NON-INSTRUCTIONAL TIME

  1. Navigate to the staff board and click the plus (+) icon on any open period for the staff member.

  2. In the menu that opens, select which type of non-instructional period this is.

  3. The prep period will be blocked out for the entire year by default (but this can be changed in a moment).

  4. To limit the prep period to specific terms, select it on the board to reveal the section inspector pane.

  5. Remove any terms you do not want reserved for the non-course activity.

  6. If you wish to add more staff members to a single common prep time, click "+Add Another" and add the additional teacher(s).

  7. The shared prep period will now display on all listed teachers' schedules.
