Counselor Resources
Counselors play a vital role in ensuring that the school schedule meets the needs of each student in their caseload. This page is meant to assist counselors in quickly learning how to use the Abl Scheduler to complete any hand scheduling that may be necessary at the end of the scheduling process.
Accessing Abl
If you are a counselor and your school administration has asked you to work on the schedule in Abl, your lead scheduler will need to provide you with access.
Filtering the Students Board
Get familiar with the best ways to find the students of concern on your caseload to save time and optimize your effort (see: Filter Any Board)
Abl has several useful filters to help counselors identify students with incomplete schedules (see: Incomplete Student Schedules)
Course Request Validation
Quickly find students with missing essential course requests by using the Students Missing Requests by Subject Area widget on the Dashboard
Ensuring that students have a set of course requests that will result in complete schedules; keep them on-track for graduation and post-secondary readiness; and which are appropriate for their particular academic program is an essential step prior to building a master schedule.
Modifying Course Requests
Abl offers powerful and efficient tools to add, delete, and replace course requests - both for individual students and in bulk actions. Check with your District Lead to learn whether course requests should be managed in Abl or your District SIS (see: Add and Modify Course Requests)
Hand Scheduling Students
Learn to navigate the individual student screen in order to enroll students in specific sections of courses, to change enrollments, to modify course requests, and even to tumble individual students (see: Manually Schedule Students).
Learn to modify class rosters to ensure that the highest priority students get seated in essential courses (see: Manually Modify Class Rosters).
