Data Mapping

Fixing mapping errors and correcting inaccurately mapped terms.

After you ingest your data, you may come across errors that relate to data mapping--the means by which Abl standardizes values from users for display in Abl products. These errors will display similarly to this:

If you experience an error of this type, you can resolve it within the Manage Data App (MDA) by going to Dictionary on the left-side navigation menu.

On that page, you will see two columns, Provided Data and Maps to:

Provided Data are the values that were provided during the data ingestion process. Maps to are the values Abl uses within our products. For example, a term value ofSem-2, would map tosemester_2in Abl.

Most values map automatically.  Sometimes Abl may map a provided value correctly, so it is a good idea to double-check all of the Abl mapped terms and ensure they reflect the provided values. You will need to select one of the terms that best fit the term provided by your district. If you feel like none of the Abl terms describe the term provided, please contact us atsupport@ablschools.com.

To map a value, in the Maps To: column, select one of the options from the drop-down menu that matches the provided term. This will resolve the error (which will show up in red) and automatically save. Once you've remapped the term, please be sure to re-run the ingestion for BOTH baseline and transcript data.
