Identifying Singletons to Schedule

It is considered best practice to place your singleton sections at the very beginning of the scheduling process. Because a singleton is only offered once, it cannot conflict for staff or students. And because students frequently take related singletons (ex. AP Physics and AP Calculus), it is important to map our a singleton pattern likely to result in fulfilled to course requests and minimal conflicts.

Find Singletons to Schedule

  1. Navigate to the Staff Board

  2. Click the orange arrows on the right side of the screen to open the Unplaced Sections tray.

  3. In the Show dropdown, scroll to Singleton and click to display tiles for unplaced singleton sections

  4. Drag and Drop sections onto the board

Also consider your 'functional singletons', which are not true singletons because other sections of the course are offered, but may be restricted in such a way that students only have one opportunity to access the course (ex. a section of a math class restricted to female students). These sections will not appear in the singletons filter, so best practice is to keep a list of such sections handy.
