Minimizing Course Conflicts for Students
Conflicts and Opportunities Bar
The Conflicts and Opportunities Bar identifies student conflicts and can help you determine the best course placement before running a Tumble to load student rosters.
The number of conflicts represents the number of students on the selected section's request list who are already enrolled in a singleton class in a given period. For example, if it showed 19 conflicts in period 1, then nineteen students would now have a conflict with a requested singleton class - where there are no other available sections.
Conflict detection will not work until singleton sections are placed.
To see a list of courses with sections that conflict with the given placement, click on the conflict number. Select the drop-down for any given course to see the students who would lose access if the section were placed at that time.
The number of opportunities represents the number of students on the selected section's roster who do not have any class scheduled in a given period. In the example below, "12 Opportunities" in period 1 indicates that if you were to move the selected section to period 1, twelve students be able to access the section at that time.
Opportunities become more meaningful as students begin to be enrolled into sections. Early on, students will have lots of opportunities. As schedules fill, the opportunities will diminish.
The video below provides a quick overview of how to use the Conflict and Opportunity Bars.

The Impossible to Fulfill Singleton Requests list is a report that shows direct student conflicts across your schedule. This report can be used after you have begun tumbling students.
Navigate to the Staff Board
Click on the Bright Ideas lightbulb icon in the upper right corner
Click on Impossible to Fulfill Singleton Requests - this will open a new tab to display the report (it may take time to load depending on how built out your schedule is)

Example: Currently Geovanny can be placed in Dance or Physics. Similarly, Javon and Rachael can take Honors Algebra 2 or PE. Reference this report when you update student schedules. Share this conflict information with staff members who support scheduling.
